A Fortnight On
23rd April 2012OlaPortuguese has been up for two weeks now and already seen many changes. Personally I've been getting my head down and studying the language, knowledge which I hope to share right here over the coming weeks. I shared the website in Reddit's language learning section and was pleased with the supportive comments despite the early stage of the website.
For those watching closely, you would have noticed new features and sections such the gentle introduction of exercises into the articles section and the growing collection of resources in the discover section. Oh and there is now a twitter account so be sure to follow! In other news, I've picked up the Portuguese translation of Harry Potter to get some reading hours in with relatively basic material - though I do wonder what Shakespeare translations are like...
Early Doors
8th April 2012Portuguese is the 6th fastest growing language in the world, with 236 million speakers worldwide. Well, 236 million and a half. I'm half Portuguese, only ever reached a level where immediate relatives understand me (very immediate family, specifically, my mother). So I'm on the path of fluency, and knowing I'm not the only Portuguese learner out there, this site shall become the hub of my learnings, tools, teachings and exploration into language.
The internet is being underused in the language learning world. Modern web technology opens the doors for greater interactivity, communication and methods of teaching and immersion into a language.
